"I would like to be remembered not as anyone unique or special, but as part of a great team in this country that has struggled for many years, for decades and even centuries….The greatest glory of living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall."

Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

Young Americans are turning against Barack Obama and Obamacare, according to a new study of millennials, people between the ages of 18 and 29 who are vital to the fortunes of the president and his signature health care law.

According to the sudy, 57 percent of millennials disapprove of Obamacare, with 40 percent saying it will worsen their quality of care and a majority believing it will drive up costs. Only 18 percent say Obamacare will improve their care. Among 18-to-29-year-olds currently without health insurance, less than one-third say they’re likely to enroll in the Obamacare exchanges

In addition to health care, domestic spying is an issue that puts Obama on the wrong side of the rising generation. While split on whether Edward Snowden is a “patriot” or a “traitor” for revealing Obama’s surveillance programs, strong majorities of 18-to-29-year-olds oppose the government collecting information from social networks, Web-browsing histories, email, GPS locations, telephone calls, and text messages.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." -John Fitzgerald Kennedy
On this Veteran’s Day we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who proudly serve this great nation. The strength of these men, women, and families is inspiring. Today we remember and honor those individuals who have given everything for this country and thank those who are still fighting. God bless you all, and God bless America.

Millions of Americans are getting their health insurance canceled under the Affordable Care Act and the Obama administration has known for about three years that this would happen, NBC News is reporting.

About 50% to 75% of 14 million consumers who buy health insurance individually will receive a “cancellation” letter or its equivalent in the next year because their current policies don’t meet the standards laid out by the new law, the news organization reports, citing four sources deeply involved in ACA.

Of those who will be forced to buy new insurance, many will face huge price increases, NBC reports.

Initially, the administration stipulated that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010, could be “grandfathered” or kept even if they don’t meet the requirements of the new law. Later, the Department of Health and Human Services wrote regulations that narrowed that provision to dictate that if any part of those policies, such as co-pay or benefits, had substantially changed since then, they would not longer be grandfathered in.

NBC alleges the administration knew that up to 67% of customers on the individual market could have their policies canceled, but instead, President Obama said as recently as in 2012, “If (you) already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”

The state Department of Natural Resources on Wednesday refused a directive from the National Park Service to close a host of popular state properties because of the federal government shutdown.

The park service ordered state officials to close the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine, Devil’s Lake, and Interstate state parks and the state-owned portion of the Horicon Marsh, but state authorities rebuffed the request because the lion’s share of the funding came from state, not federal coffers.

In a question-and-answer session with reporters at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Walker blamed both sides for partially shutting the federal government down for the first time in 17 years.

"The best way to resolve it? Look at what we did in Wisconsin. We had a $3.6 billion deficit; we now have more than a half-a-billion-dollar surplus. Every Wednesday — I did it this morning, before I came over here — I sit down with the legislative leaders and, you know, we figure out a way to solve the problems that face our state. We have an effective line of communication, and we get things done.

"I think not just in Wisconsin but in states across the country there’s a lot of governors and lawmakers in both parties who wish the folks in Washington in both parties would act more like the states and less like our nation’s capital."

The Republican National Committee is offering to pay security expenses so the World War II Memorial is open for visitors during the government shutdown.

"The Obama administration has decided they want to make the government shutdown as painful as possible, even taking the unnecessary step of keeping the Greatest Generation away from a monument built in their honor," Priebus said. "That’s not right, and it’s not fair."

House Passes 3rd Bill To Fund Government; EVERY Senate Democrat Votes Against It

poorrichardsnews:image

They say the third time is the charm.  Not when you’re dealing with Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats.

from Washington Times:

Weathering the early signs of cracks in their unity, the Republican Party passed its latest spending proposal through the House Monday night, saying it was a good-faith effort to prevent a government shutdown while working to blunt the worst parts of President Obama’s health law.

But less than an hour later the Senate killed the proposal on a party-line vote — the third one in a row it’s shot down — and again demanded House Republicans pass a spending bill without preconditions.

The “precondition” in this bill was that Congress be required to sign up for Obamacare like every other citizen in the United States.  Senate Democrats chose to shut the government down rather than abide by the law they’re forcing on everyone else.

The House is right to place conditions on the budget.  They are, after all, the most responsible to their constituents. This is by the Founding Fathers’ design, and that is why they only have 2-year terms in office.  They are kept accountable by their constituents by having to run for office again every two years.  Despite the Democrat talking point of “we won the election, so Obamacare is the law,” Republicans actually gained seats in the House this past election.

House members are hearing from their constituents that Obamacare is hurting their livelihood, and thus House Republicans would not be doing their job if they did not use this opportunity to roll back Obamacare.
